H.I.A.T. held its first seminar in Launceston on September 7th. Guest speakers Peter Broadhead (Director, Information Management - Department of Community and Health Services) and Alex Thompson (Chair of General Practice and Community Health - University of Tasmania) spoke on aspects of Health Information Access Issues.
A Study Day is being planned for late in November on the theme of using Information Technology to make a difference to client outcomes. Details of the venue etc. will be circulated to all financial members as soon as possible.
H.I.A.T. is a new and growing organisation which now has 13 financial members.
We congratulate Ms Gillian Biscoe on her recent appointment as Secretary of the Department of Community and Health Services. Gillian has a great deal of knowledge and interest in the area of health informatics and is a former recipient of a Kellogg Fellowship which she used to study health computing applications in the USA. We look forward to having Gillian speak at one of our meetings.
