Our September meeting featured Dr Graeme Miller and Helena Britt. Graeme and Helena presented details of the AUST-READ trial, with plans to evaluate the use of the READ codes with appropriate software for use in General Practice in Australia. Dr Michael Crampton also spoke at this meeting, outlining proposed structural changes to General Practice. The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) assisted in the promotion of this meeting and as a result there were many new faces at this meeting. Because of this success we plan another meeting in December in cooperation with the RACGP.
In October we are taking another look at communications and access to information - Mr Brendon Lansdowne from Compuserve is to be our speaker.
We are now finalising plans for our annual HIANSW conference '94. Based on the success of our '93 conference we are returning again to the vineyard area in the Hunter Valley. Dates selected are February 12-13, 1994.

As this is the last issue of this magazine for 1993, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone well as we look forward to a break at the end of 1993, to return with new energy and enthusiasm for continued progress for the many activities relating to health informatics in Australia during 1994.
