Following a supportive ballot of all members, at the 8th NIA Inc. and 1st AHIA (VIC) combined AGMs, it was voted unanimously that NIA Inc. and AHIA (VIC) would amalgamate to form the new multidisciplinary group:
to be known as HISA(VIC).
The new Executive committee was formed and those elected and seconded to the Executive were Rita Axford, Barb Carter, John Clingeleffer, Joan Edgecumbe, Michael Kidd, Jon Hilton, Lynne Hall, Wendy McPhee, Darryl Simpson and Kaye Stanistreet.
At the first Executive Committee meeting, the office bearers will be elected and the drafting of a new constitution will commence. All members of both former groups will have the opportunity to vote on the amendments to the constitution.
Thanks must go to the outgoing committees of both groups, who have preformed brilliantly and worked tirelessly to bring together this new group. HISA(VIC), as the new Victorian group, will concentrate it's efforts in highlighting the need for a multidisciplinary approach to the practical application of health informatics.
As this is the last issue of the magazine before Christmas, HISA(VIC) takes this opportunity to wish the members of HISA and all associated groups a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
